Description of Positions

Tutor

Reports to the Education Program Manager. Provides academic support and assistance to students in various subjects. Works under the direction of the Education Program Manager to help students achieve their academic goals. 

Mentor

Reports to the Mentorship Program Director. Provides academic support, guidance, and encouragement to students. There will be one mentor for each grade level; please indicate which age group you'd like to work with: Jr. High, Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, Senior.

Secretary 

Reports to the Admin Director. Takes notes at board meetings and volunteer team meetings, distributes action items, and manages meeting schedules and communications. Ensures that meeting records and action items are well-organized and communicated to the relevant parties.

Community Programs Co-Chair 

Reports to the Community Outreach Director. Works alongside other Co-Chair to brainstorm and develop community engagement strategies, and plays a crucial role in event planning and execution, including setup and takedown for in-person events like the annual conference.

Communications Copywriter

Reports to the Marketing Director. Writes and edits content for letters and other communications to students and parents. Ensures that all written materials align with the organization’s voice and messaging.

Graphic Designer

Reports to the Marketing Director. Designs visual content for social media graphics, website updates, and branded merchandise. Works with the Social Media Strategist to create visually appealing content and supports website management tasks.

COCOA Initiative is a 501(c)(3) Non-profit Organization based in Oklahoma City, OK, with a mission to empower 8th-12th grade African-American girls to lead successful lives. The program aims to nurture the next generation of women of color by providing mentorship through self-esteem building, wellness programs, academic support and financial literacy resources.
