Our Why
At the COCOA Initiative, we believe that every young woman of color deserves the tools, resources, and community support to thrive in all areas of life. Our mission is rooted in addressing the unique challenges faced by African-American girls in grades 8-12, who are often underserved and overlooked in traditional educational and leadership development programs.
We exist to empower these young women to embrace their full potential by focusing on holistic growth—building self-esteem, fostering wellness, promoting leadership, and equipping them with the skills needed for lifelong success. Through mentorship, education, and community service, we aim to create a supportive environment where girls are nurtured, uplifted, and prepared to lead with resilience, purpose, and confidence.
Our "why" is simple: We believe in the power and potential of young African-American women to transform their communities and the world. By investing in their growth today, we are shaping the leaders of tomorrow.

What we do on 3rd Saturdays
We are a group of young diverse women who have made it our mission to spread equity within our community. We do this by creating monthly sessions on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Every month we cover one of our pillars service, leadership, wellness, resiliency.
